The main gasket for subway sliding doors is made from low-smoke, fire-resistant EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber, with a hardness of approximately 75 Shore A. It provides sealing, sound insulation, thermal insulation, and electrical insulation. In addition, it offers excellent performance under both high and low temperatures, superior aging resistance, wear resistance, and outstanding fire-retardant properties.
The main sliding door gasket serves as the sealing strip for left and right sliding doors on subways. Both sides of the gasket feature tapered barbs: these not only facilitate installation but also ensure that, once installed, the gasket is securely fastened to the profile on both sides, making it difficult to dislodge.
In practice, when we take the subway, we often see sliding doors in the train compartments open and close for passengers to board and alight. These doors form a safety barrier between the platform’s public area and the track area. To ensure safe and smooth boarding, the main sliding door gasket also functions as an anti-pinch rubber strip to prevent accidents.
